150,000 Kebbi farmers to get agric loans – Official

About 150,000 farmers and civil servants in the 21 local government areas in Kebbi State will benefit from the various ‘Anchor Borrower’s Programme’ loans facilities for all aspects of agriculture during the 21 farming season.

The Chairman, Kebbi State Wheat Farmers Association, Abdullahi Sa’idu Argungu, said this during a stakeholders meeting in Birnin-Kebbi.

The meeting was aimed at standardising agricultural activities and collating a realistic and genuine database of farming and agricultural activities ranging from crop farming, livestock and fisheries in the state.

Sa’idu, who is also the Sarkin-Noman Argungu Emirate, said a census of the farmers across the State was being taken based on the directives from the State government.

“The census is to collate the names of only credible and genuine farmers who have farms and are also willing to engage in farming activities not restricted to rice farming alone. This is a deviation from the norms in the past where some beneficiaries of such facilities were not genuine farmers”, he said.
