2023: CSO advocates conducting States’ election before Presidential, to counter plot against voters

The likely diabolical strategies of unleashing terror to deter voters can best be countered by conducting the State elections before the Presidential and National Assembly polls.

The Citizens Centre for Election Monitoring and Observation (CCEMO) stated this yesterday, in Abuja.

Addressing newsmen in Abuja, the Executive Director of CCEMO, Dr. Israel David, explained that the teeming masses shall own the process and wholeheartedly participate if the order of elections is tilted in favour of the gubernatorial and State legislative polls.

He said: “In the build-up to the 2023 general elections, it is obvious that the polity has already been heated up by the usual histrionics, deviating from issue-based campaigns and a cause for great disquiet to all peace-loving and law-abiding citizens.

“The deft move by the electoral umpire to outsmart the master riggers of elections via artificial intelligence is bound to be countered by those whose political aspirations outweigh the precious blood of innocent Nigerians. The current security challenges may be maximally exploited to disenfranchise potential voters, especially in areas where their support base is limited, by politicians who have no qualms about setting our motherland ablaze to achieve their nefarious political ends”.

The group lamented that it is a sad reality that successive electoral contests in Nigeria have been marred by violent confrontations dating back to the very first elections organized in 1964 after Nigeria’s independence in 1960.
