2023: Kwankwaso set to declare interest in Presidency

Pays N30m for NNPP nomination form

Emerging reports have disclosed that former Kano State governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, will likely declare interest to contest the Presidency on the platform of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, (NNPP).

It was gathered that political heavyweights from the North-West geo-political zone, especially Kano, and his other disciples were already in Abuja to attend the event.

Kwankwaso has reportedly paid the required N30m and obtained the presidential nomination and expression of interest forms for the NNPP.

Kwankwaso was received by the party’s National Chairman, Prof. Rufa’i Alkali and the National Organising Secretary, Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi, and other members of the National Working Committee, (NWC).

The former Minister of Defence dismissed both the ruling APC and the PDP as political associations that were given the opportunity to govern but failed Nigerians.

Recall that Kwankwaso, also a former Minister of Defence, in February announced the formation of the Third Force party, under the aegis of The National Movement, thereby lightening the political temper of Nigeria towards the 2023 presidency.

About two weeks ago, he announced his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party, citing marginalisation and other factors as reasons.

Others in the Third Force team included Sen. Suleiman Hunkuyi of Kaduna State; former Minister of Youths and Sports Development, Solomon Dalung; popular northern critic, Buba Galadima and other prominent Nigerians.

According to them, the Third Force would take over power from the ruling All Progressives Congress, (APC), in 2023.

Speaking at the occasion, the convener of the event, Kwankwaso said it was a collective desire to rescue the country.

Kwankwaso said he met with his friends during the Covid-19 lockdown and resolved that a decisive step must be taken to rescue Nigeria.
