The All Progressives Congress, (APC), Oyo State Chapter’s Elders Advisory Council, has revealed why former President Goodluck Jonathan cannot become Nigeria’s president on the platform of the ruling party come 2023.
The former Oyo State governor and Chairman of APC Elders Council in the State, Adebayo Alao-Akala, who stated this during a radio interview in Ibadan, the state capital, at the weekend, said the ruling party has people already lined up to become president in 2023.
Alao-Akala, however, said Jonathan was free to join the APC, but should dismiss the notion of becoming the party’s presidential candidate in 2023.
According to the former governor, “I am not saying Jonathan can’t join the APC, but he can’t be president under our party in 2023, because some people are on the queue already”, he said.
Recall that Jonathan has been linked to APC ahead of the 2023 presidential election.
Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike had cautioned Jonathan against defecting to the APC, stating that the ruling party will destroy the reputation of the former president if he joins the ruling party.
