At least eight people have been killed, and four injured by armed bandits in separate attacks dotted across Chikun, Giwa and Kajuru local government areas of Kaduna State.

These were outlined in reports made by security agencies to the Kaduna State Government.

The State’s Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, the incidents were outlined in reports made by security agencies to the government.

He said, “At Kan-Hawa Zankoro, near Ungwan-Yako, in Chikun local government area, armed bandits shot at a vehicle, which then somersaulted, leading to the deaths of six persons, and leaving four others injured”.

Those who lost their lives in the crash are listed as A”isha Bello, Uwaliya Alhaji Shehu, Ramatu Sani, Muhammad Shehu, Aminu Ibrahim and Ibrahim Abdu.

According to Aruwan, those who sustained injuries are Zainab Alhaji Usman, Surayya Bello, Khalifa Sani and Ushe Sani.

The statement added that the State governor, Nasiru Ahmed el-Rufa’i, received the reports with sadness, and prayed for the repose of the souls of those slain, while sending condolences to their families and wished the injured a speedy recovery.

In another incident, eight kidnapped victims have been rescued and one AK-49 rifle recovered from operatives of the State’s Police Command.

This was contained in a statement released on Tuesday, by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Mohammed Jalige.

The PPRO said the victims were abducted by bandits along the Kaduna-Zaria Expressway aboard a luxury bus on February 29, en route Delta State.

The rescued victims are, Bala Ibrahim; Ede Gloria, from Ebonyi State; Japheth Sani, Kebbi State; Kinsley Edgbue from Delta State; Ifeanyi Samuel, Enugu State; Anthony Okafor, Gabriel Agu, and Chibuzo Nwokorie, all from Anambra State.

“However, the victims are currently receiving medical attention in preparation for a reunion with their respective families.

“Meanwhile, hot pursuit of the fleeing bandits is on-going“, he added.
