APC sets September 4 for LG congresses

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has fixed Saturday, September 4, for its local government congresses.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Secretary of the Party’s Caretaker Extra-Ordinary Convention Planning Committee, (CECPC), Sen. John James Akpanudoedehe, yesterday, in Abuja, indicated the sale of forms for the congress has since begun.

The Secretary said the purchase of forms for ward, local government area councils and State congresses would begin from Aug. 18 to 28, while screening of aspirants would be from Aug. 31 to Sept. 2.

Akpanudohedehe said LGA congresses, including 3-man delegates for the party’s National Convention, would be on Sept. 4, while appeals arising from the congresses would be from Sept. 6 to 11.

“Nomination forms for the position of LG chairman will cost N25,000, LG vice chairman, secretary and treasurer will cost N15,000”, the APC scribe explained.

He added that forms for other party offices would cost N10, 000, saying that female and physically-challenged aspirants would pay 50% of the fees for each position.

Recall that the Party’s Ward Congress took place on July 31 in 33 States and Federal Capital Territory (FCT), while the party suspended the exercise in Anambra, Bayelsa and Zamfara States.

During the inauguration of the Ward Congress Appeal Committees, the National Secretariat said it received petitions from 14 States, while it awaited reports of the grassroots congress from 12 States two weeks after the exercise.
