Bandits have abducted no fewer than 50 people in an early morning attack on Bassa community in Shiroro local government area of Niger State.
It was learnt that the bandits stormed the community in large numbers in motorcycles in the early hours of yesterday. According to reports, the people were getting set for the day’s activities, which became disrupted by the bandits, causing them to run into the bush for safety.
The co-convener, ‘Concerned Shiroro Youths’, Sani Abubakar Kokki, who confirmed the attack, described the bandits as terrorists.
He lamented the bandits attacked the town, causing mayhem on unsuspecting peaceful, unarmed and defenceless locals. He, however, stated that the number of people kidnapped is not yet certain, but said that they were very many.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Abiodun Wasiu, said he will respond when he has details about the incident.
