…As three abducted students of Greenfield Varsity found dead
Gunmen suspected to be bandits have reportedly abducted 77 people at Libere village in Kajuru local government area of Kaduna State.
According to reports, the incident occurred on Wednesday. The report said the village head of neighbouring Kalla, Aminu Na’Iri, confirmed the report.
He said eight members of a family, including the wife and children were among those abducted.
Libere is said to be located around a thick forest across River Kaduna from Kasuwan Magani Kalla village, which makes it difficult for security operatives to respond quickly to attacks in the area.
The incident is coming on the heels of bandits’ attack on Greenfield University situated along the Kaduna-Abuja highway in Chikun local government area, with the gunmen kidnapping students and staff, which the State government confirmed that three of the abducted students were found dead.
According to a statement issued by the State’s Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, the three students were yesterday found at Kwanar Bature village, a location close to the university.
The armed bandits had on Tuesday kidnapped an unspecified number of students at the institution, located at Kasarami village off Kaduna-Abuja Road, in Chikun LGA.
Aruwan said Governor Nasir El-Rufa’i has condemned the killing of three students as sheer wickedness, inhumanity and an outright desecration of human lives by vile entities, adding that the governor, on behalf of the government and people of Kaduna State sent deep condolences and empathy to the students’ families and the university community, as he prayed for the repose of their souls.
Aruwan said the State government would keep citizens informed of further developments.
