Boko Haram: Service Chiefs visit Maiduguri

The new Service Chiefs yesterday in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, met with critical stakeholders to brainstorm and re-strategise on how to tackle the Boko Haram insurgency in the State.

They are the Chief of Defence Staff, Maj-Gen. Lucky Irabor; Chief of Army Staff, Maj-Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru; Chief of Naval Staff, Rear-Admiral Awwal Gambo and the Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice-Marshal Oladayo Amao. The new Service Chiefs took the mantle of leadership from their predecessors after they were appointed by President Muhammad Buhari on Tuesday.

The Chief of Defence Staff, Maj-Gen. Irabor led the delegation to arrive at the headquarters of the Air Task Force of ‘Operation Lafiya Dole’ in Maiduguri, at about 1:30pm.

The visit of the new Service Chiefs provided an avenue to brainstorm on how to re-strategise and device a new approach that will ensure lasting peace in Borno State, which is the epi-centre of the insurgency.
