Kaduna State governor, Nasir Ahmed el-Rufa’i, has advocated for the clampdown on Boko Haram insurgents and bandits terrorising the North and the country in general.
Speaking at the Town Hall meeting on National Security hosted by the Ministry of Information and Culture in Kaduna yesterday, the governor asked security agencies to wipe the criminals.
El-Rufa’i stressed the current security situation calls for the restructuring of the country, adding that the move will curb the rising insecurity in the nation.
He also listed seven things Nigeria needs to do urgently. The governor joined the call for the decentralisation of the Police, saying that the time has come for State Police.
He also asked the federal government to decentralise the management and ownership of mineral resources.
El-Rufa’i also urged the Judiciary to Fastrack the long duration of prosecution in order to encourage the current security situation.
According to the governor, bandits and criminals prefer being taken to court as they have believed they will soon be freed.
The Federal Government Town Hall Meeting on National Security was held at the Main Lecture Theatre of the Kaduna State University (KASU).
