…’Pray for peace to return’ – Atiku
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, has urged Nigerians, especially Christians, to use the 2021 Easter season to pray for the country.
This was contained in a statement issued yesterday by the Special Adviser to the Speaker on Media and Publicity, Lanre Lasisi, titled: ‘Easter: Let’s pray for Nigeria, Unite for Our Progress, Gbajabiamila Urges’. According to him, despite the challenges facing the country, there will be light at the end of the tunnel, hence the need for prayers now and always.
Gbajabiamila called for unity of purpose among Nigerians, saying, “There is more that unites us as a people than that which divides us.” He said Nigeria is a great country with good people who have great potential, adding that if well harnessed, the nation and the citizens would be better for it.
The Speaker specifically called on Christians to imbibe the virtues of Jesus Christ, whom he described as a role model to the world. He added that the life and time of Jesus Christ are a perfect example of selflessness, care, affection, compassion and service to humanity, calling on Nigerians to emulate the same.
Similarly, Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has urged Nigerians to use the occasion of Easter to pray for Nigeria’s unity and for peace to return to the country. In his Easter message to Nigerians, Atiku recalled how the coronavirus pandemic crippled many activities in most countries in the world last year.
The former vice-president, therefore, hailed the health workers who, like the example set by Jesus Christ, sacrificed their lives in battling the virus. Warning that the virus is still very potent, he urged people to continue to adhere to the non-pharmaceutical guidelines to keep them safe.
