El-rufai’s threat: Gunmen killed 3, abduct 1 officer at Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna

Gunmen in the early hours of Tuesday gained access into the Nigerian Defence Academy NDA permanent site in Afaka, killed two officers and abducted one.

This coming few hours after the State Governor, Nasiru Ahmad El-rufai said brute force is the only way out of banditry and kidnapping in an interview yesterday.

The gunmen were said to have gained access into the residential area of the military training school around 1:25 am. The killed officers are identified as Lt. Commander Wulah and Flight Lt. Commander C.M. Okoronkwo. While Major Datong was abducted by the gunmen.

Confirming the incident, the Academy Public Relations Officer,

Major Bashir Muhammed Jajira in a statement said the security architecture of the academy was compromised early this morning by unknown gunmen who gained access into the residential area within the Academy in Afaka, and during the incident, they lost two personnel and one was abducted.

He said the Academy in collaboration with the 1 Division Nigerian Army and Air Training Command as well as other security agencies in Kaduna state has since commenced pursuit of the unknown gunmen within the general area with a view to tracking them and rescue the abducted personnel.

He however added that the NDA community and Cadets are safe in the Academy, assuring the general public that the unknown gunmen would soon be apprehended and the abducted personnel rescued.

The Nigerian Defence Academy permanent Site is almost adjacent to the Federal College of Agriculture, Mechanical where some students were abducted in large number recently before they were released after paying ransom.

The Afaka campus of NDA is sandwiched between the Nigerian Air Force Base, Department of State Security Services DSS training school and Kaduna International Airport, all few minutes’ drive away from the Headquarters, I Division of the Nigerian Army, Kaduna.
