New Electoral Act: Ramalan salutes President Buhari’s nationalism, courage, statesmanship

Former Kaduna State APC Caucus Chairman and Group Executive Chairman, ATAR Communications Nig. Ltd, owners of Liberty TV and FM Radio Stations, Alhaji (Dr.) Tijjani Ramalan, has saluted President Muhammadu Buhari for signing into law the much-awaited Electoral Act (amendment) Bill yesterday.

The Media owner, who was a member of Buhari’s Presidential Election Media Teams for 2015 and 2019 Elections, stated that the President has boldly and deeply written his name in gold in the hearts of lovers of liberty, freedom and democracy in Nigeria, Africa and the world.

Ramalan, in an issued statement yesterday, said that it took no small amount of patriotism and courage for Mr. President to put his signature and name to the Electoral Act 2022 at this point in time, despite the intense lobby against by many powerful and selfish interest groups of political appointees the State governors amongst others.

“The President has managed our diverse opinion on participatory democracy well and has also demonstrated that hand-in-hand with technological improvements in our system of electing leaders; there must also be a balance in the need to carry all shades of opinions along in our electoral processes”, he added.

Ramalan also thanked the National Assembly for being on the side of Nigerians in the passing of the reworked Electoral Bill until it became law.

He further urged Nigerians, Kaduna residents in particular, that the time for sitting on the fence is over. He urged them to register to vote for the best candidates at the various levels so as to enjoy the maximum benefit of the new law.
