Fire razes Yobe market, goods worth millions destroyed

Hundreds of shops and goods worth millions of naira have been destroyed in a fire incident at Gashua Hay Market, in Yobe State.

This is coming a week after a fire destroyed Katsina Central Market and a market in Zamfara State.

The Gashua fire incident started on Saturday night into yesterday morning, an eyewitness told newsmen. He said goods worth millions of naira have been destroyed in the fire outbreak.

Although the cause of the fire incident yet to be known, residents suspect it to be from smokers around the market.

The residents have appealed to Federal and State governments and other concerned authorities to come to their aid.
