“God told me to join APC” –  Fani-Kayode

Says he is wooing Oyo, Bauchi, Enugu governors to join party

Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress, (APC).

Fani-Kayode made the declaration at the Presidential Villa, Abuja after he was presented to President Muhammadu Buhari as a member of the APC.

The former spokesman of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council was introduced to the president by Yobe State governor and Chairman of the APC National Caretaker Committee, Mai Mala Buni and his Zamfara State counterpart, Bello Matawalle.

After he was formally welcomed to the party by President Buhari, the lawyer and former aviation minister said he was led by the ‘Spirit of God’.

Fani-Kayode, who explained that he had been a founding member of the APC, also said he returned to the APC for the unity of the country.

He said he was against anything that would cause the disintegration of Nigeria, adding that whatever opinion anyone may have about his credibility, as a result of his constant change of parties, was up to them.

On Wednesday, Fani-Kayode had moved around some APC governors to discuss his plan to finally ditch PDP. He was seen with Governor Abdullahi Sule, of Nasarawa State, Governor Mai Mala Buni and Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello.

Fani-Kayode further stated that he was wooing the governors of Oyo, Bauchi and Enugu States, Seyi Makinde, Bala Mohammed and Ifeanyi Uguanyi respectively to also join the APC.

He said whatever opinion people may have about his credibility because of his constant change of parties was up to them.
