Insecurity: “Allow Nigerians to carry guns” – Gov. Ishaku tells FG

Taraba State governor, Darius Ishaku has proposed that the federal government should allow all Nigerians to bear licensed AK-47 guns to protect themselves.

Ishaku made the call on Wednesday, when 15 local government council Chairmen in the State paid him a condolence visit following the death of one of their colleagues who was kidnapped and subsequently killed by gunmen.

The governor lamented the increasing rate of insecurity in Nigeria and the seeming inability of the government in curbing it. To this end, the governor noted that if security agents have been unable to secure the life and property of citizens, kidnappings, banditry, and other crimes are on the increase, then a new approach has to be deployed rather than waiting for the day evil will befall one.

Recall that armed men suspected to be kidnappers killed the chairman of ardo-kola local government council in Taraba State, Hon. Salihu Dovo. Dovo was abducted by gunmen at his residence in Jalingo early hours of Sunday, January 24, 2021.
