Kaduna: Eight months after employment, 7,600 new teachers await salary, postings

Secondary school teachers employed by Kaduna State Government on July 19, 2021, and posted on May 17, 2022 are yet to receive their first salary, according to reports.

Recall that it had been earlier reported that the new teachers spent 10 months with neither posting nor salary, with many of them expressing uncertainty over their fate.

When we received our postings after 10 months of waiting, we were hopeful that at least we will start getting a salary; because many of us had resigned from our previous jobs to take up this one, Ayuba Tanko, told newsmen on Friday. Ayuba, a resident of Sabon-Tasha in Chikun local government area of Kaduna State, was posted to a community in Kubau LGA, a distance of over 100 kilometres.

You will also recall that when we were eventually posted to our various places of primary assignment, some said they wouldnt be able to report for duty because they were posted to far locations, coupled with the issue of insecurity in parts of the State. But many of us took up the challenge, despite the distance. Now we are stranded, because we did not receive any allowance to go to our duty posts; we were not given any allowance to sort out accommodation issues. Worse still, we are yet to receive a dime from government, he lamented.

Another resident, Ladi Makeri, who also spoke to newsmen alongside Ayuba, called on the Government to do some urgently to help them settle down and face the task at hand.

All efforts to contact Kaduna State Teachers Service Board (KTSB) were unsuccessful.
