The Kaduna State government has verified that some travellers were attacked by bandits on the Abuja-Kaduna highway on Friday.
This was disclosed in a statement released by the Kaduna State Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan.
According to the State government, the number of people abducted in the attack after bandits blocked the highway at about 3:30 p.m, is yet to be confirmed.
Aruwan said, “Security agents responded swiftly to distress calls and checked their operation”.
He added that they will publicly disclose the number of people abducted as soon as security agencies revert.
Recall that a former Senator, Shehu Sani, had said on Friday that an unspecified number of people were abducted by bandits on the busy highway, adding that the hoodlums blocked the highway and forced motorists to make a U-turn.
