…As Ogun APC warns against parallel LG congress
The Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission, (KADSIECOM), has postponed the LG elections in four local government areas of the State.
The KADSIECOM chairman, Dr. Saratu Binta Dikko-Audu, disclosed this while briefing newsmen at the commission’s head office in Kaduna, yesterday.
To this end, she said the Commission had put all the necessary machinery in place to conduct a hitch-free election in the remaining 19 LGAs areas of the State.
In a related development, the Ogun State All Progressives Congress (APC) Local Government Congress Committee has warned members of the party against conducting parallel congress in the State slated for today, Saturday.
The Chairman of the five-member committee, Wale Ohu, disclosed this when the committee met with the local government congress electoral committee members, who would conduct the congress across the 20 local government areas of Ogun.
Ohu warned that the party would not hesitate to sanction anybody engaging in anti-party activities.
According to him, the list of the ward executive members was given to the committee from Abuja, saying the committee would work strictly according to the list.
He threatened that the APC would not accept the result of a congress not conducted by the party secretariat, saying, “This is the only list approved by the National Secretariat, anything aside from this is null and void”.
Recall that the National Secretariat of the party issued a similar warning during the ward congress, but States like Ogun, Osun, Rivers, Kwara and others had parallel congress on July, 31.
