KAROTA intercepts trailer with unregistered detergents

The Kano Road and Traffic Agency, (KAROTA) has intercepted and impounded a trailer with a brand of detergent mixed with those that are not certified by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).

This was contained in a statement issued by the agency public relations officer, Nabilusi Abubakar K/Na’isa yesterday.

The operation, which took place at Bompai Road, Kano, was a joint exercise between KAROTA and Kano State Consumer Protection Council after intelligence was gathered by the intelligence unit of the state traffic agency. “The operation took place around 10 p.m. on Thursday, which led to the arrest of the driver and his boys after several attempts to evade arrest”, said the statement.

The KAROTA Managing Director, Alh. Baffa Babba Dan’agundi called on the general public to be mindful of information on consumable items label while buying them, such as: the expiry date, manufactured date and the NAFDAC registration number, which he said is very important so as to avoid purchasing fake and expired products that could complicate their health.
