Kidnappers, at the weekend, attacked motorists at Kwanar-Tsintsiya axis of Kaduna-Zaria Road, in Igabi local government area of Kaduna State.

The Kaduna State Government confirmed the attack on the road, in a statement by the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan.

It was gathered that the location of the attack is about two kilometers away from Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji. The road is rarely attacked by hoodlums and it is relatively safer,

The State government also revealed how bandits laid siege to the major highways in the State.

According to a statement issued by Samuel Aruwan, which contained the feedback the state government said it received from the military authorities on recent military operations in the State, soldiers engaged armed bandits in firefight on the Kaduna-Abuja and Kaduna-Zaria roads in the late hours of Sunday and yesterday in the latest of the confrontations.

Kaduna, like many of the seven states in the North-West region, has been under frequent attacks by bandits for many years now, with the security forces yet unable to quell the banditry.
