…Says governors are unanimous on ‘wiping them out’
Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufa’i, has said the only way to make schools safe is to kill all bandits and bombing the forests they are camping.
The governor, who stated this yesterday in Abuja, at a conference on ‘Financing Safe Schools in Nigeria‘, stated that his colleagues are in agreement that bandits must be completely “wiped out”.
Although some northern governors, particularly Bello Mattawalle, of Zamfara State, have advocated for dialogue with bandits, el-Rufa’i insists that they are all on the same page on “killing them all”.
He called on the Nigerian Air Force to destroy the forests where bandits have been using as hide-outs, saying, “Nobody living in the forest is innocent and we must kill them all.
Speaking further, el-Rufa’i said that drones should be bought and deployed to assist in the fight against banditry and other forms of criminality.
El-Rufa’i called for a stop to the payment of ransom, stressing that if people stop negotiating and paying them ransoms they would stop.
According to the governor, security agencies must eliminate anyone found in the hideouts of bandits, adding that no inhabitant of forests is innocent.
