Ø As Bauchi Gov. reverses self, begs herdsmen against carrying arms
The Miyetti-Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria,(MACBAN), has called on the Federal Government to allow every Nigerian to bear firearms to protect themselves considering the security challenges in the country.
This call was made by its Chairman in Bauchi state, Sadiq Ibrahim Ahmed during an interview, who said since that the Federal government has failed in its responsibility to protect lives and properties, citizens should be allowed to bear arms so they can protect themselves.
However, in what seems to be a reversal to his former comments, the Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has begged Fulani herdsmen not to carry AK-47 rifles. Mohammed made the appeal yesterday, while speaking at the launch of the 2020/2021 Annual Livestock Vaccination campaign, which held at the Galambi Cattle Ranch, Bauchi.
The Bauchi governor said, “What I will do, I will not say it here, but I will do everything possible to make sure I protect you and lend support to you because I know you mean well. “Please, don’t carry the AK-47 that I made a figurative allusion to. Try to make sure that you remain peaceful”, he declared.
Recall that Bala Mohammed recently defended Fulani herdsmen who carry AK-47.
