The Edo command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has arrested three suspects in connection with illicit drug trafficking in the state.
The state Commander of the agency, Buba Wakawa, disclosed this in an interview on Monday with our correspondent in Benin City.
Wakawa disclosed that the suspects who were arrested in May, include one male and two females, adding that among the females was a pregnant woman.
The Commander also disclosed that 2,410 Kilogrammes of substance suspected to be cannabis sativa was seized from the suspects within the period under review.
Also seized were 0.003 Kilogrammes of substance suspected to be heroine as well as 0.002 Kilogrammes of substance suspected to be cocaine, not leaving behind about 80 tablets of Tramadol.
The pregnant woman has however been counselled and released because of her condition.
The commander further disclosed that two vehicles, a Toyota Camry with registration number Lagos, Mus 226 GN, and a Volkswagen Transporter Van with registration number Lagos, BV 720 FKJ were seized in connection with the crime.
Meanwhile, 32 persons comprising 20 males and 12 females were counselled within the period under review.
He reiterated the command’s commitment to ridding the state of illicit drug trafficking.
He also appealed for a befitting and condusive operational office accomodation for the agency in the state, as the personnel of the command are still operating from it’s former command headquarter, which was burnt by hoodlums, during the #EndSARs protest.
