Niger: Security operatives capture 150 AK-47s in terrorist’s house in Minna

Security operatives have raid a kidnapper sect member’s house, situated at Gbeganu area in Niger State.

According to a security source, the weapons seized from the gunman’s house included: 150 AK-47 rifles, over 3,000 live ammunition, explosives, a rocket launcher and an anti-aircraft rifle from the house.

It was gathered that there was a tense standoff between the gunman and the security forces for hours on Tuesday night, where they found the guns and over 3,000 rounds of ammunition and explosives.

However, the suspect escaped after blowing down his fence with an RPG; however, his wife and children were reportedly arrested by security operatives.

The suspect was reported to have started firing when he noticed the arrival of security operatives through CCT cameras he installed in his house.

Residents of the area said that they got into violence when they heard the exchange of fire that started at around 12 o’clock at night, before the gunman escaped.

The source further said that the suspect used a rocket weapon to destroy a part of his house, whereby he managed to escape;however, the security forces arrested his wife and children who were in the house.

Our source said that it was difficult to see the security officers through the CCTV device, so the terrorist who went to look for them opened fire on them; and that’s when they exchanged fire.
