The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, (NSCDC), yesterday stated that it has developed a new technology – Integrated Electronic Arrest Reporting System (I-EARS) – to fight crime in the country.
This was contained in a statement issued by the NSCDC spokesman, Olusola Odumosu.
The NSCDC Commandant-General said the I-EARS will be used to make a compilation of information on all forms of crime.
He added that the new technology will be used to plan strategic action for security operations by the Corps.
The Commandant-General also ordered the 15 zonal commanders of NSCDC across the country to beef up security in States under their jurisdiction, and to deploy improved tactics to maintain security before, during, and after the Eid-il-Fitr celebration.
According to the NSCDC Commandant-General, the directive became necessary following threats of attacks by miscreants and bandits in different parts of the country, which he said must be prevented to guarantee a hitch-free celebration.
Audi noted that the present security situation in the country is worrisome, but expressed optimism that the nation will overcome the challenges.
