The Jos Electricity Distribution Company says its pre-paid meters are free for customers in its franchise areas.
According to a statement issued by its Head of Corporate Communications, Friday Elijah, the company asked its customers to report any official who asks for money before installing prepaid meter in their homes.
“Similarly, account openings are also free and as such customers need not pay for new account openings,” the statement read.
The power firm supplies electricity to customers in Bauchi, Benue, Gombe and Plateau States.
The DisCo also urged customers not to panic, saying sufficient meters are available to serve all customers.
