Police rescue 12 children from 55 year-old trafficker in Anambra

The Nigerian Police Force have rescued twelve Children from one suspected 55-year-old child trafficker Nkechi Odinye in Anambra State.

“It would be recalled that on the 22/10/2019 following intelligence report, Police detectives attached to Anambra State Command arrested three female suspects at Nkpor market/Tarzan junction in Idemili North LGA of Anambra State,” the state police spokesman Haruna Mohammed said in a statement

“Investigation revealed that the children were stolen from Gombe State by one Hauwa Musa ‘f” on the 20/10/2019 and brought to her accomplices in Anambra State.

Mohammed said during the interrogation of the suspects, they confessed that they steal the children, and sell to their sponsor Odinye.

He said Odinye allegedly buys the children from the abductors at the rate of N200, 000 to 400,000 naira depending on their age and gender.

Mohammed said Odinye, who has been on the run for over three years, was eventually arrested on 31st of August following the tipoff acted on by Police detectives attached to 3-3 Division Onitsha in Collaboration with Operatives attached to the Command Special Anti-Cult Section(SPACS).

He said the 55year old was apprehended at her hideout at Obosi in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State with twelve children of various age brackets, comprising of 8 boys and 4 girls

Mohammed said the children were suspected to have been stolen from different parts of the Country are presently under the protective care of the police.

He said the 2 out of the previously rescued children following the Public announcement by the Command on the 27th of October, 2019, have been identified by their parents.
