Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is under pressure to review the just concluded 2023 general elections where evidence of malpractices has been established. Some Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) in the country have asked the Commission to ensure that there is evidence of electoral malpractices and that the Commission should review allegations of voter suppression and vote buying based on provisions of the law. INEC postpones Governorship, State Assembly elections to March 18

The elections for Governorship and State assemblies have been postponed to March 18 by the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC). After a meeting of its executives yesterday night, INEC reportedly announced that the election could not proceed as planned due to a logistical crisis caused by the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) configuration and transportation.
