Three lorries, fully loaded with 10 kilograms of rice bags meant as palliatives to cushion subsidy removal, were on Friday hijacked by irate mobs at the Oja-Oba/Idi-Ape/Isale-Oja axis of Ilorin-East, and West local government areas of Kwara State. The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) says there are 180 uncollected International passports in its Ilorin office. The Controller of NIS in Kwara, Mr Aminu Shamsuddin, confirmed this in an interview on Friday in Ilorin. Shamsuddin explained that most of the uncollected passports belonged to people that did not reside in Kwara, adding that they found it difficult to create time to collect their documents. Lagos-bound plane catches fire mid-air with 33 people on board

An Overland Airways aircraft caught fire mid-air on Wednesday night, with 33 passengers on board. The passengers, however, escaped death as the aircraft made an emergency landing at the Murtala Muhammad International Airport, Lagos, from Ilorin International Airport, in Kwara State. The management of Air Peace has denied online reports purporting that its Ilorin-bound B737-500 aircraft with registration number 5N-BQR from Abuja, was involved in a crash in Ilorin yesterday, calling it misleading.
