…Courts to re-open on Monday After over two months, the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria, (JUSUN), has suspended its industrial action. According to a source at the Supreme Court yesterday, JUSUN’s decision to suspend the strike action was due to the intervention of both Chief Justice of Nigeria, (CJN), Justice Ibrahim Muhammad and the National Judicial Council, (NJC). Senate asks governors to implement full autonomy for Judiciary

Senate yesterday urged the 36 Governors to grant autonomy to the Judiciary, insisting that autonomy for the third arm of Government is non-negotiable. The Chairman, Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, made the call while fielding questions from reporters in Abuja. The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), yesterday, announced it will hold a nationwide protest on April 19, to push home its demand for financial autonomy for the judiciary. This directive was contained in a circular dated April 16, signed by the Deputy Secretary of the Union, Mr. P. Nnamani.
