Three soldiers killed, 171 others missing as ISWAP attack military base in Yobe

Members of the ISWAP/Boko Haram terrorist groups, have attacked the Kumuya military base in Yobe State, allegedly killing three soldiers and destroying heavy equipment during the operation.

The terrorists reportedly struck on Friday, when some special forces of the 27 Task Force Brigade, deployed at BunijGari had gone out on clearing patrol in the axis.

It was gathered that the terrorists, aided by local informants and sympathisers, stormed the Kumuya community, attacked ‘harmless’ villagers and the military base, destroying heavy military equipment.

During the attack, the terrorists were said to have used heavy weapons in destroying military equipment and patrolled the community to prevent the reinforcement of soldiers.

It was however gathered that the troops on the ground came out and engaged the insurgents, eventually overpowering them. Though it was learnt that a section of the military base at Kumuya was razed down during the attack,

The number of casualties recorded by troops could not be confirmed at press time.
