A soldier from the Nigerian Army serving in 202 Battalion of 21 Special Armoured Brigade Bama, Borno State, has killed an officer, a Subaltern.
The incident happened on Wednesday when the soldier approached the officer who was standing in front of the Unit’s Headquarters making a phone call and fired at the officer which led to his death.
Sagir Musa, Director, Army Public Relations, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday in Abuja.
According to the statement, the soldier who is suffering from depression has been arrested and is in custody undergoing investigation to determine the circumstances that led to the unfortunate incident.
The remains of the deceased officer has also been evacuated to 7 Division Medical Services and Hospital.
“The family of the deceased has already been contacted. The Nigerian Army sympathizes and condoles with the family at this trying moment, and prays to the Almighty God for the repose of the soul of the departed and to also grant his family and other loved ones the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss. May his gentle soul rest in peace”, the statement read.
