Flood has submerged a cemetery in Potiskum town, Yobe State, which resulted in the collapse of many graves.
The popular NEPA graveyard was said to have been flooded last Monday, following a heavy rainfall which also killed five children as well as destroyed many houses.
The ugly development has compelled the committee in charge of maintaining the graveyard to appeal to the Yobe State government, philanthropists and other well meaning individuals to assist by providing herbicides, mats, sand, gravel, cement blocks, wheelbarrows, spade, diggers, firewoods among other things, to enable it to embark on rehabilitation of the collapsed graves.
One of the concerned community members, Ali Gimba Fika, has also urged residents of the town to come out en-mass and fully participate in the rehabilitation of the affected graves.
Recall that, last month, a graveyard, located in the Low Cost area, in Gashua town, was also hit by a flood disaster, leading to the collapse of many graves in the aftermath of a heavy downpour.
