Zamfara: Terrorists ambush military convoy, kill scores of soldiers

Some unknown gunmen, believed to be terrorists, ambushed a military convoy in Zamfara State’s Kekun Waje district, of Bungudu local government area, killing an undetermined number of soldiers.

According to reports, soldiers were ambushed on Wednesday while on patrol nearby.

Recall that in 2019, a peace agreement was signed by the State Government and the bandits. Additionally, the Governor of 2020 presented about 15 brand-new Hilux vehicles and cash gifts to the heads of various ‘repentant’ bandit gangs. Turji Bello was the most recent bandit to turn around, according to the State’s Deputy Governor.

Communities in the State are still being attacked, and locals are still being kidnapped and/or killed.

About five bodies of dead soldiers have been found, according to a military source who spoke with newsmen and confirmed the incident. According to reports, several employees who were hurt during the attack are being treated in a hospital.

Both civilians and security personnel have recently been the targets of terrorist attacks in Zamfara State.
